Yayyy!! i have choosen my FYP and i got accepted. Wheee.... =)
i hope that i have made the right choice man.. got rejected by a few profs.. due to the following reasons:
1. i was in inner mongolia when the fyp choices were released. so i cant email any of my profs.
2. this fyp system is more like a first come first serve basis system (aka a screwed fyp system). in short, i was way too late when i applied. all the projects which i was interested in have been taken up.
3. i dun wanna go through the balloting process.. cuz it will be vvvvvv mentally taxing for me.. cuz i will probably end up with a project which i dun LIKE ,dunnoe how to DO or dunnoe how to START.
4. i need to COMMUNICATE with my Prof. Hence i dont wanna to be talking to someone of a different frequency. period.
hahahs.. so i have to make a choice from the following 2 options:

Incorporation of Energy Storage System with Renewable Resource in Power Systems
Summary:
Due to environmental and energy supply reliability reasons, it is becoming increasingly important to explore the use of renewable or clean energy for electricity production. Unfortunately many of the renewable sources, such as that from wind or solar, tend to fluctuate and can be highly random. Large-scale direct connection of the renewable source into power systems is unlikely to be acceptable, both from reliability and supply security points of view. A possible solution is to make use of the versatility offers by Unified Power Flow Controller (UPFC) as the UPFC is able to control simultaneously or selectively voltage magnitudes and phases, which in turns affect power flow patterns in a transmission network. The intent of the present work is to incorporate an energy storage system into the conventional UPFC, so that long-term load-tracking can be realized. In a previous work, a battery energy storage system has been investigated for use with the UPFC. Two methodologies have been proposed to determine the capacity of the battery bank. The methods are based on meteorological data of solar radiation at given location, and the challenge is to minimize the capacity of the battery bank while ensuring that it would be sufficiently sized to cater for the load demand.Other storage mediums exist and it is necessary to explore these possibilities. For example, advanced forms of battery are now available which show improved life-cycle. The charge-discharge characteristics of these newer batteries also show superior performance compared to the conventional lead-acid battery. These issues will be investigated.

Manipulation of a single carbon nanotube
Summary:
Carbon nanotubes (CNTs) are potential building blocks for nanodevices. To measure the electrical properties of a single CNT or build a nanodevice, it is essential to extract a CNT from a CNT array. Methods will be investigated to extract individual carbon nanotubes from a bundle using a nanomanipulator probe housed in a scanning electron microscope. Student should have strong interest in nanotechnology.

As i dont know to extract a CNT from an array of CNT.. plus i dun noe wad on earth is a nanomanipulator probe ( although i know what is a scanning electron microscope, i dont really know how to use it.. hahas)
